Members of the Regina Street Gang Unit with support from members of RPS patrol, conducted a lengthy investigation into an alleged robbery, kidnapping, and violent assault that occurred on January 13, 2022. Investigation revealed that the male victim had been assaulted and restrained at a residence in the 3800 block of Regency Crescent and then transported to a different address in the 1000 block of Angus Street where the assault continued. The victim eventually managed to escape the residence and approached police who were in the nearby area.
The following individuals have been arrested and charged in relation to this investigation.
Thirty-three year-old Anthony William AKAN, of Regina, has been charged with the following:
- Robbery with a firearm, s. 344(1) CC;
- Forcible confinement, s. 279(2) CC; and
- Aggravated assault, s. 268(1) CC.
AKAN made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on January 31, 2022.
Thirty-six year-old Tyler Nathan DESNOMIE, of Regina, has been charged with the following:
- Kidnapping, section 279 (1) CC;
- Robbery with a firearm, s. 344(1) CC;
- Forcible confinement, s. 279(2) CC;
- Aggravated assault, s. 268(1) CC;
- 3 X Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, s. 88 CC;
- 3 X Careless storage of a firearm, s. 86(1) CC;
- 3 X Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, s. 91(1) CC;
- Possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm, s. 95(1)(a) CC;
- 4 X Possess a firearm contrary to prohibition order, s. 117.01 CC (3 firearms, 1 ammunition);
- Breach of Release Order, s. 145(4)(a) CC; and
- Breach of Probation Order, s. 733.1(1) CC.
DESNOMIE made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on February 16, 2022.
Thirty-five year-old Bradley Joseph LEDOUX, of Regina, was subject to outstanding warrants in relation to this file and was arrested by members of RPS canine and patrol on February 23, 2022. LEDOUX was found to be in possession of an explosive device and a loaded firearm upon his arrest. He was subsequently charged with the following:
- Kidnapping, section 279 (1) CC;
- Robbery with a firearm, s. 344(1) CC;
- Forcible confinement, s. 279(2) CC;
- Aggravated assault, s. 268(1) CC;
- 2 X Breach of probation, s. 733.1(1) CC;
- 4 X Carrying a concealed weapon, s. 90 CC;
- 3 X Possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose, s. 88 CC;
- Unlawful possession of explosive, s. 82(1) CC;
- Store a firearm contrary to regulations, s. 86(2) CC;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm, s. 91(1) CC;
- Possess a prohibited firearm with ammunition, s. 95(1)(b) CC; and
- Possess a controlled substance, s. 4(1) CDSA.
LEDOUX made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on February 24, 2022.
