As the result of continued investigation, by police and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, into the death of 22 year-old Harvey BEATTY of Prince Albert, the Regina Police Service can now confirm that this is a homicide investigation. Two individuals have been arrested and charged. The murder of Harvey BEATTY, whose body was found in Regina on December 16, 2021, is the fifteenth (15th) homicide in Regina in 2021.
This investigation began on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at approximately 5:15 p.m., when police were called to Greenberg Park on the 1900 block of Broder Street, for the report of a deceased person. Members of Regina Fire and Protective Services were already on scene and EMS had confirmed the person to be deceased. The male was later identified as 22 year-old Harvey BEATTY of Prince Albert. At that stage, police had very limited information and no apparent crime scene, making the death investigation more complex. Now, just over a month later, two people have been arrested and charged in connection with what has been deemed a homicide case.
Forty-one year-old Aaron Craig ALEXSON (male) and 30 year-old Toni Marie MANITOPYES (female), both of Regina, are charged with Second-degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. Both accused persons: ALEXSON and MANITOPYES will make their first court appearances on the charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022.
