On Thursday, December 2, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a robbery at a convenience store on the 1700 block of Dewdney Avenue East. Police arrived and learned that a lone male, armed with a firearm, entered, demanded money and merchandise, and after receiving them, fled the store.
On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at approximately 2:45 a.m., police were dispatched to a similar incident at the same location, where the suspect, armed with a firearm, fled with cash and merchandise.
On Thursday, January 13, 2022, at approximately 2:20 a.m., police were dispatched once again to the location for the report of a similar armed robbery, where the suspect fled. The Regina Police Service Canine Unit located the suspect, a 16 year-old male, in a nearby yard, where he was arrested. A firearm was recovered.
A search warrant was conducted on the male’s residence and evidence related to the three incidents were seized. As a result, the male was charged for all three incidents.
A 16 year-old male, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- 2 X Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)];
- Robbery with a Firearm [CC 344(1)(A.1)];
- 3 X Disguise with Intent [CC 351(2)];
- 2 X Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence [CC 85(2)(A)]
- Possession of a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing an Offense [CC 88]; and
- Carry Concealed Weapon [CC 90].
The youth made his first appearance in Provincial Youth Court this morning, Friday, January 14, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
