An early-morning investigation of a suspicious vehicle, turned into a stolen auto incident with an adult male charged with Evading Police and Possession of Stolen Property.
On Monday, August 30, 2021, at approximately 3:34 a.m., police on patrol noted a vehicle (Hyundai Elantra) speeding through a residential neighbourhood. Police attempted a traffic stop in the area of 4th Avenue and Elphinstone Street. The vehicle slowed, but then drove through a red light at the intersection. Police were able to deploy a spikebelt and the vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street. There was still a passenger inside the vehicle, which was confirmed to be a stolen vehicle. It appeared the male driver had fled into a house. Police were permitted to enter the residence and located the suspect male in an upstairs bedroom. This individual was found to have an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and, after further investigation, charged with three new offences.
