Demand for policing services at the Queen City Exhibition, or QCX, was moderate, with the exception of an incident on Saturday, involving the deployment of bear spray. Two male youths have been arrested and charged in connection with that event. Other than that incident, the Regina Police Service reported a relatively low number of criminal and nuisance complaints at QCX over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 20-22, 2021.
On Friday, August 20th:
– Two intoxicated males escorted from the property and banned by Security for the day;
– One male identified as the subject of a warrant, arrested;
– Domestic-related assault, one adult male charged.
On Saturday, August 21st:
– Busy day starting at noon. Extra vehicles and many more people due in part to egress from Mosaic Stadium after Rider/Ottawa football game.
– Bear spray incident (as noted above).
– Male arrested for intoxication.
– Female youth arrested for breaches of curfew and alcohol conditions.
– A few fights reported, but combatants either dispersed on their own before police arrived or were expelled from grounds.
On Sunday, August 22nd:
– Delay in opening due to rain. Numbers increased after 6:00 p.m.
– Male tried to climb gates twice. Arrested for intoxication.
– Intoxicated female reported as unwanted guest.
The Regina Police Service thanks the public for its trust and cooperation during the first block of QCX. Our thanks also go out to EMS, the Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) and QCX event ambassadors and security staff for their partnership and dedication to public safety.
