On Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at approximately 9:40 a.m., police were dispatched to the report of a weapons offence on the 600 block of Albert Street. Information received was that a male entered the store of a gas bar, revealed a firearm to a staff member, then left.
A canine track located the suspect hiding in the backyard of a residence on the 400 block of Smith Street, which resulted in the male being bit. The male was arrested by police, and a search of the male revealed firearm ammunition, but a firearm was not recovered. The male was arrested and transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police confirmed the identity of the 22 year-old male, and he was found to be in breach of conditions of his release.
Twenty-two year-old Troy CARDINAL, of Regina, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of Indictable Offence [CC 85(2)(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply With Condition of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
CARDINAL made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.
