On Thursday, March 11, 2021, police conducted a traffic stop near 11th Avenue and Lacon Street in Regina. Police observed a firearm in the vehicle. Both occupants, a 36 year-old male, and a 30 year-old male, were detained for possession of a firearm. Ammunition was also located in the vehicle. The 36 year-old male was also arrested on a warrant issued by the RCMP. The 30 year-old male was also arrested in relation to a recent break and enter and assault with a weapon.
Thirty-six year-old Lester Wayne FAVEL, and thirty year-old Grant Justin Riel THOMAS, both of Regina, are jointly charged with:
- Careless use of a firearm [CC 86(1)];
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession unauthorized [CC 92(1)]; and
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle [CC 94(1)].
FAVEL is also charged with:
- Possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition order [CC 117.01(1)] X 4.
Both FAVEL and RIEL make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, yesterday, March 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
