Three Regina males are facing charges including firearms trafficking as a result of investigation and enforcement on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. The enforcement activity included utilizing the resources of the Canine Unit, Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT), as well as Patrol members.
Through investigation, police learned of potential buying and re-selling of restricted weapons in the city. The Crime Reduction Team’s investigation led to a male suspect, believed to have recently purchased four restricted handguns. In the enforcement operation on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, police observed a meeting between this individual and two other males. After the meeting, police were able to arrest the first suspect at a residence in the 3000 block of George Street. The other two suspects were located at a residence in the 4100 block of Hillsdale Drive. Because of the potential threat of firearms, the SWAT and Canine units assisted CRT and Patrol. Two males exited the house and were arrested. Search warrants were executed on the suspects’ vehicles and the residence on Hillsdale. A large sum of cash and four 9mm. handguns were recovered.
