A 27 year-old Saskatoon male is facing charges in connection with an officer-involved shooting incident in Saskatoon on December 23, 2020. This incident, involved police officers of the Saskatoon Police Service responding to a domestic altercation involving a male armed with a weapon in an apartment in the 1100 block Ave. W North. The incident is being investigated by the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit after a request was made to the RPS to conduct this investigation in cooperation with independent observers assigned by the Ministry of Corrections and Policing. The Regina Police Service investigation is examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting itself, which included the suspect’s actions, the officers’ perceptions, and their use of force. While this entire investigation remains ongoing, it has led to the arrest of the 27 year-old Saskatoon man, by RPS members, on January 5, 2021, in Saskatoon. At the time of the arrest, it’s alleged the male was in possession of a bladed weapon. This led to weapons-related charges in addition to those arising from the December 23rd incident.
