A 31 year-old Regina male is facing charges in connection with the discovery of improvised incendiary devices on the weekend in downtown Regina.
On Saturday, November 28, 2020, at approximately 3:44 p.m., police were flagged down on 11th Avenue and Rose Street by three young males who said they’d found a suspicious package in front of a downtown business. Police were given a red bag containing four fluid-filled containers, with what appeared to be a wick tied to each. At this time, a search was conducted at the business premises and in the area, but no similar suspicious items were found. The Regina Police Service Explosives Disposal Unit conducted tests and found the fluid in the containers to be combustible/explosive. Security personnel at the business played a key role in identifying the suspect by isolating surveillance video, showing an individual carrying a bag that matched the one abandoned outside the business. In the video, it appears the suspect simply left the bag when he saw a police car arrive in the area on an unrelated matter. The suspect was identified, located, and arrested without incident. Investigation led to charges against a 31 year-old Regina male.
Thirty-one year-old Lyndon Adrian CHAMBERLIN, OF Regina, is charged with:
- Make or Possess Explosive Substance [81(1)(d)(ii) CC];
- Unlawful Possession of Explosives [82(1) CC];
- Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose Dangerous to Public Peace [88 CC];
- Carrying Concealed Weapon [90 CC]; and
- Possession of Explosive Substance Contrary to Prohibition [117.01(1) CC].
CHAMBERLIN made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 (today).
