The Regina Police Service is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in a taxicab robbery early yesterday afternoon (Sunday, November 22, 2020).
Police were called to the 1200 block of Retallack Street at around 12:50 p.m. after a report that a taxicab driver had been robbed at knifepoint. When police arrived they learned the victim was called to a business in the 2000 block of Broad Street for a fare. He picked up the passenger and while en route to the destination, a home on the 1200 block of Retallack Street, the passenger demanded the victim stop the vehicle. He then pulled a knife out, grabbed the victim and threatened him. A brief struggle took place before the victim was able to run from the cab. The suspect took off with the victim’s cell phone and a bag containing other belongings as well as cash. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Video footage obtained through police investigation shows a man who appears to be in his early 20’s, with shoulder-length, dark, wavy hair. He was wearing a red jacket, black ball cap and red shoes.
