The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into a fatal collision that occurred this morning (Wednesday) in south Regina.
Police were dispatched at approximately 7:43 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, to the 4500 block of Albert Street for a report of a collision between a large vehicle and a pedestrian. At the scene, police located a young adult female, who was confirmed deceased by EMS personnel. Preliminary information indicated an excavator, which is a large earth-moving vehicle, was travelling southbound on Albert Street, in the curb lane, as a pedestrian was attempting to cross Albert Street from the west side to the east side. Police learned the excavator carried on for some distance, the driver possibly unaware the collision had occurred. Police located the driver a short time later. The vehicle is owned by the City of Regina and the operator is a city employee.
Police have identified the deceased 21 year-old woman. Her family has been notified of her death. Her name will not be released by the Regina Police Service. Police are continuing this investigation, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Anyone who may have information to assist this investigation (who has not already been interviewed by police), is encouraged to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
