With the spookiest night of the year approaching, the Regina Police Service is reminding public to be safe – no matter how you choose to celebrate.
Each family will make its own decisions about how Halloween will look in their household. The Saskatchewan Health Authority says trick-or-treating is permitted in Regina, but only with safety measures in place. Some of those measures include:
- Physical distancing – remain 6 feet from those who are not in your household/extended household.
- No direct contact between trick-or-treaters and those handing out candy.
- Wash/disinfect hands frequently.
- Consider incorporating non-medical masks into your costumes.
- Turn off your porch light and stay home if you are feeling unwell.
In addition to the health-related advice, use these RPS safety tips to maximize treats and reduce tricks:
- Go Bright! Add some bright elements or a flashlight to your costume to make you more visible.
- Location! Stay in familiar neighborhoods and walk on well-lit streets.
- Plan! Let your family members/friends know where you are going. Even better – travel in groups.
- Help! If you see someone in trouble, call 9-1-1.
For the more “seasoned” citizens that plan to celebrate this weekend – remember that we all have a role to play in keeping our city safe. Please respect SHA Public Health Orders if you are gathering to celebrate. And if you choose to drink – please don’t drive.
We witch you a Happy Halloween! Stay safe and let the ghoul times roll!
