A 27 year-old Regina male is facing a total of ten charges, including Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats, in a domestic-related assault and investigation spanning this past weekend.
This investigation began on October 2, 2020, with a report of an assault alleged to have occurred the night before (October 1st) at a business in the 5800 block of Rochdale Boulevard. The alleged perpetrator is an adult male and the alleged victim is an adult female; both are known to each other. It’s alleged both individuals got into his truck, where it’s alleged another assault occurred. On October 2nd, police received a report that the same suspect had allegedly threatened the same victim with a firearm and left in his vehicle. Police located the suspect’s truck and attempted to stop it using a tire deflation device (spike belt) but the truck and driver managed to escape. The truck was later found abandoned. Police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and recovered evidence pertinent to the investigation. On October 4th, police recovered a firearm, believed to have been used by the suspect. And, finally, on the evening of October 4, 2020, police located the suspect and took him safely into custody without further incident.

In order to avoid identifying the victim in a domestic relationship, the Regina Police Service will not release the name of the accused, in this case. The 27 year-old is charged with:
- Assault [266 CC]; and
- 2 X Assault with a Weapon [267(a) CC];
- Uttering Threats [264.1(1)(a) CC];
- 2 X Possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order; [117.01(1) CC]
- Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence [85(1)(a) CC];
- Possession of a firearm when Unauthorized [92(1) CC];
- 2 X Possession of a Scheduled Substance (methamphetamine, fentanyl) [4(1) CDSA]
The accused person made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020. He was remanded for a later court date.
