This is a case of, “There’s a market for everything…”
The Regina Police Service is requesting information from the public in solving a rather unusual case of shoplifting. The culprits in this case act as a team in a “distraction theft”. One person creates a distraction allowing accomplices to steal a target item. The target item? In this case, it’s thousands of dollars’ worth of tooth whitening products, trademarked “White Strips”.
On September 29, 2020, the Regina Police Service received a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred a few days earlier, on September 26th, at about 4:20 p.m., at a business in the 2000 block of Park Street. Preliminary information indicates three people – two males and one female – entered the business. One male stood at the end of an aisle and kept watch while the other two suspects cleared the shelf of tooth-whitening products. It’s believed the items were hidden in a make-shift bag attached to the inside of the female suspect’s coat. Near the checkout area, the first male distracted an employee, while the other suspects slipped past him and out the door. There are photos of the suspects accompanying this news release. All three appear to be Caucasian and are described as being in the 40-50 age range. This incident may be related to similar incidents, with similar suspect descriptions, from almost a year ago (December, 2019).
Anyone who has information to identify these suspects or assist the investigation in any way is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). Please do not leave tips in the comment sections of social media accounts. The Regina Police Service thanks the public and the media for their assistance in this matter.
