On Sunday, July 5, 2020, at approximately 2:15 a.m., police attempted to pull over a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Wascana Street, but the vehicle evaded. A spike belt was deployed by the Regina Police Service Stolen Auto Unit and the vehicle stopped on Elphinstone Street and 7th Avenue, where the driver got out of the vehicle, fleeing westbound on foot. The driver was observed by police running into a residence on the 1200 block of Argyle Street. Police entered the residence in pursuit and were met by the residents, who stated they did not know the person who entered, and that children were sleeping in the house. Police located the male hiding in a bedroom occupied with two children.
The male was placed under arrest and charged. The 22 year-old male was identified and found to be wanted for robbery in Yorkton.
Twenty-two year-old Donovan Dean STRAIGHTNOSE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Flight from peace officer [CC 320.17];
- Operate a conveyance dangerous to public (dangerous drive) [CC 320.13(1)]; and
- Break, enter, and commit [CC 348(1)(B)].
STRAIGHTNOSE made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Monday, July 6, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
