On June 11, 2020, the Regina Drug Unit (RDU) completed a fentanyl trafficking investigation and enforcement action in the City View area of Regina. A CDSA search warrant was executed in the 400 block of Lorne Street North resulting in the seizure of approximately 500 grams of fentanyl, $21,000 currency, a small amount of cocaine, multiple cell phones and digital scales.
As a result of the investigation 24 year-old Lazarus TENY and 24 year-old Akol Paul TURE both of Calgary, Alberta, were jointly charged with the following drug trafficking and Criminal Code offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl) [5(2)CDSA];
- Proceeds of Proceeds of Crime over $5000 [355(a) CC]; and
- Possession of cocaine [4(1)CDSA].
In addition, TENY was charged with the following offences:
- Breach of a Court Recognizance [145(5)(a) CC]; and
- Breach of a Probation Order [733.1(1) CC].
TURE was also charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Weapon (bear spray) dangerous to the public [88 CC];
- 3 x Possession of Prohibited Weapon contrary to Prohibition [117.1(1)]
- Breach of a Court Recognizance [145(5)(a) CC]; and
- Breach of a Probation Order [733.1(1) CC].
Both accused males made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court on Friday, June 12, 2020.
