A 21 year-old male is facing charges of possession of stolen property after his arrest in Regina in the early-morning hours of Friday, May 1, 2020.
At approximately 12:05 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020. A member of the Regina Police Service Stolen Auto Unit was working in the area of 14th Avenue and McIntyre Street, when he recognized a male who was wanted on a warrant for driving while disqualified. With the help of a Canine Team and other members of the Street Crimes Team, the officer took the male into custody without incident. In the search incident to arrest, police found three keys in the male’s pocket. Upon further investigation, the keys were found to be automobile master keys. The Criminal Code defines a master key as “a key, pick, rocker key or other instrument designed or adapted to operate the ignition or other switches or locks of a series of motor vehicles”. In other words, a master key can be used to access, start and potentially steal many different vehicles. In addition to the arrest on the warrant, the male was charged in connection with the possession of the master keys.
Twenty-one year-old Chance Chase FINK, of Regina is charged with:
- 3 X Possession of a Master Key, section 353(1)(b) CC; and
- Breach of Probation, section 733.1(1) CC.
FINK will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on July 9, 2020.
