Five individuals – two females and three males – have been arrested and charged as the result of an incident Monday night in the 1400 block of Robinson Street that involved a number of RPS Emergency Services teams.
On Monday, April 27, 2020, at approximately 5:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of Robinson Street, after a male caller reported and assault and threats on his life. Police units were dispatched to the area and found the complainant who had sustained injuries consistent with a physical assault. The victim reported that there were several suspects inside the house as well as another male victim. Officers also learned there may be firearms and other weapons inside the house. A short time later, a second male victim emerged from the house; both victims were attended to by EMS. Initial attempts to negotiate occupants out of the house were not successful. Shortly after 7:30 p.m. additional, specialized resources were placed on the call including Special Weapons and Tactics, Crisis Negotiators, Canine and an incident command group. At approximately 10:00 p.m., tear gas was deployed into the residence and police arrested a total of eight individuals from the house. Three were released without charges; the remaining five are jointly charged with assault with a weapon. At approximately 2:00 a.m., a warrant to search the residence was executed and officers located a machete and ammunition.
Twenty-seven year-old Kyle Nicholas WOOD, 24 year-old Destin James DOHERTY, 23 year-old Ethan Hawk EPISKENEW, 18 year-old Paulina EPISKENEW, and 46 year-old Ginny Wynne EPISKENEW, all of Regina have been jointly charged with Assault with a Weapon, contrary to s.267(a) of the Criminal Code.
In addition Kyle WOOD is charged with Fail to Comply with a Release Order [145(5)(a) CC].
All of the accused have been released on an officer undertaking with a court date of July 9, 2020.
