An investigation by the Regina Police Service Stolen Auto Unit, with assistance from the K9 Unit and patrol members, has resulted in a string of theft-related charges.
On Monday, March 30, 2020 at approximately 12:20 p.m., members of the Stolen Auto Unit observed a stolen truck travelling in north Regina. While conducting surveillance on the truck, a second stolen vehicle – an SUV – was observed near the stolen truck on the 4400 block of Rochdale Boulevard. The occupants of the two vehicles were seen communicating between the vehicles, and police were able to positively identify the drivers of both the truck and the SUV.
Police continued surveillance on both vehicles to south Regina, where the stolen SUV stopped in the area of Munroe Place, and the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. Members of the K9 Unit established a track and successfully located the driver of the SUV hiding in a yard on Parker Avenue. The male was bitten by the dog, but was cleared by EMS at the scene with no injuries. As a result:
Eighteen year-old Jesse Kane DUSTYHORN, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000 [CC 355 (A)];
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000 [CC 355 (B)];
- Fail to Comply With Probation Order [CC 733.1 (1)];
- Fail to Comply With Disposition [YCJA 137].
Meanwhile, other members of the Regina Police Service continued surveillance on the stolen truck until it parked near Jubilee Avenue. The male driver and a female passenger were seen exiting the vehicle on foot, and were arrested immediately. A search incident to arrest showed the female passenger was in possession of several stolen identity documents. As a result:
Eighteen year-old Brianna BYRON, of Calgary, Alberta, has been charged with:
- Theft Of Motor Vehicle [CC 333.1 (1)];
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000 [CC 355 (A)];
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000 [CC 355 (B)];
- 7 X Identity Fraud / Possession of An Identity Document [CC 56.1 (1)].
The 19 year-old male driver of the stolen truck was found to be in possession of a sum of Canadian currency, and several stolen identification documents related to a string of thefts from vehicles. Police were also able to gather evidence indicating this suspect was involved in the theft of a second vehicle that was reported stolen on March 28, 2020.
The same suspect is also alleged to have been involved in a March 5, 2020 robbery in the 1800 block Victoria Avenue E, in which stolen property was obtained.
In addition, this suspect had warrants from police departments in various Canadian cities.
As a result: 19 year-old Jaden KAHNAPACE, of Regina has been charged with:

- Robbery [CC 348 (1)(B)];
- Break Enter & Commit [CC 348 (1)(B)];
- Theft Under $5000 [CC 334 (B)];
- Theft Shoplifting Under $5000 [CC 334 (B)];
- Theft Shoplifting Over $5000 [CC 334 (A)];
- 12 X Fail to Comply With Probation Order [CC 733.1 (1)].
DUSTYHORN and BYRON made their first court appearances on the charges in Provincial Court on March 31, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.
KAHNAPACE made his first court appearance on the charges in Provincial Court on March 31, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
