The death investigation, begun in the early morning yesterday (Friday) by the Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, is now continuing as a homicide investigation: the second homicide in Regina in 2020. The victim is an adult male, who was found critically injured in a residence in the 500 block of Wascana Street and who was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Wascana Street at approximately 1:29 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020. Early information indicated there was a male, in a residence at that location, who was injured. Police arrived and immediately requested EMS for an adult male who appeared to be critically injured. Police attempted emergency first aid until EMS arrived. At approximately 1:41 a.m., the male was pronounced deceased by EMS. Officers secured the scene and requested the Coroner, as well as the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units.
The deceased person has been identified and his next-of-kin have been notified. The victim’s name will be released by the Regina Police Service, but his family has requested that police do not release the name at this time.
