On Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at approximately 8:00 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling on 4th Avenue near Albert Street occupied by a female and three males, one of which police recognized to be wanted on warrants. Police performed a traffic stop, and found one of the males to be in breach of probation. A quantity of a substance which appeared to be crystal meth was observed in the vehicle, and seized. All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged for possession. A subsequent search of the 25 year-old male revealed a substance believed to be fentanyl. A search of the 32 year-old female revealed a second substance also believed to be crystal meth.
At the time of the arrest and in the subsequent court appearance, the 32 year-old female identified herself to police with a false identification, using the name of a 25 year-old Regina female who had no involvement in this incident. Upon learning of this, police charged the 32 year-old female with obstruction on the following day, January 8, 2020. The Regina Police Service has been in contact with the 25 year-old whose name was falsely provided by the 32 year-old suspect. The error has been corrected in records and measures have been taken to mitigate the harm caused by the misidentification.
