On Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at approximately 3:25 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a weapons offence the 1200 block of Rae Street. Information received in the initial call stated multiple people knocked on the door of a residence in the 1200 block of Rae Street and demanded money. The suspects were alleged to be in possession of weapons.
The suspects did not enter the home. Information provided to police alleged the suspects did enter a different home on the same street a few moments later.
Police attended, surrounded the residence in question, and after hours of attempted negotiation, the Regina Police Service SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team attended the scene. A number of individuals exited the residence shortly after SWAT arrived. An additional individual was located inside the home by police.
Upon further investigation, a 17 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with Robbery [CC 344(1)(b)].
The youth will make his first court appearance on the charge in Provincial Youth Court on February 24, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.
