Three people (one male and two females) are facing charges after a stolen auto incident on Sunday, September 29, 2019.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., members on patrol, in the area of Elphinstone Street and Saskatchewan Drive, spotted a black Nissan Pathfinder that matched the description of a vehicle, reported stolen on September 23rd. The officers were able to keep the vehicle in sight long enough to confirm that the license plate on the Pathfinder did not match the vehicle registration information. The license plate had been reported stolen on September 27th. Members of the Stolen Auto unit took over surveillance and managed to safely stop the Pathfinder on Lewvan Drive, near Gordon Road. The three occupants of the suspect vehicle were taken into custody at the vehicle and nearby. Further investigation led to charges against all three individuals, who also had outstanding warrants.
The three accused: 22 year-old Dustin Kevin Harvey KAHNAPACE, 37 year-old Melina Rae KAHNAPACE, and 33 year-old Janelle Ruth Harriet SANGWAIS, all of Regina. All three are jointly charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle over $5,000 [355(a) CC] and Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000 (license plate) [355(b) CC].
In addition, Janelle SANGWAIS is charged with Possession of Identity Documents [56.1(1) CC].
All three accused made their first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019.
