A 37-year old Regina male is facing weapons charges after an incident on Sunday night.
At approximately 9:18 p.m. on July 7, 2019, police were dispatched to the area of Victoria Avenue and Atkinson Street regarding a report of a male running through the area in possession of what appeared to be a firearm. Police then received a second call reporting that a male was seen outside a business on the 700 block of Victoria Avenue looking into a vehicle holding with what appeared to be a firearm. Police received a third call regarding a male holding what appeared to be a firearm knocking on the door of a residence on the 2000 block of Atkinson Street.
Police located the suspect on the 2000 block of Atkinson Street holding a firearm. Police ordered the suspect to drop the firearm. The suspect threw the firearm into the yard of a residence, breaking a glass door. Police apprehended and charged the suspect. The firearm was determined to be an airsoft gun.
Thirty-seven year-old Gary Dominic ABIGOSIS of Regina is charged with:
- 3 x Pointing a firearm [87 CC];
- Possession of a weapon [99 CC];
- Use of a firearm during commission of an indictable offence [85(1)(A) CC];
- Mischief under $5000 [430(4) CC]; and
- Fail to comply with recognizance [145(3)].
ABIGOSIS appeared in Provincial Court for these charges on July 8, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
