On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of East Dewdney and Cavendish Street for the report of a firearms incident.
It was reported that three males were driving in a vehicle when they noticed they were being followed by another vehicle. It’s alleged the driver of the second vehicle, who was the lone occupant of the car, discharged a firearm, striking the first vehicle. The victims fled to a neighboring high school. As a result, the school was placed into “Secure-the-Building”. No one has been physically injured in this incident.
Police are looking for a vehicle described as a blue mid 2000’s Dodge Neon or similar compact vehicle. The driver of the vehicle is described as male, in his early 20’s, with a full tattoo sleeve on his left arm, and a black bandana on that arm.

By definition: Secure the Building is a situation where it is believed a threat is currently outside the building resulting in the decision to secure the school whereby all outside doors will be locked to secure the building. Each exterior door is to be monitored by designated school staff until Secure the Building mode has been lifted. Entry and exit of the building will be at the front doors only and are to be monitored by police and school administration. Regular interior school activities continue in a controlled manner.
