An 18 year-old male is facing a total of 26 charges after investigation into a series of criminal occurrences, primarily in south Regina. The male was arrested after officers responded to a home invasion in the early morning hours of May 15th.
Police were dispatched on May 15, 2019, at about 2:05 a.m. to a residence on Mayfair Crescent, after an emergency phone call from the sole female occupant of the house. The victim described someone trying to break down her door and fled to a bathroom. When police arrived a few minutes later, there was smashed glass throughout the house as well as damage to the locked bathroom door. The victim was found inside. As police were checking the grounds of the property, they heard the sound of breaking glass and a car alarm nearby. The officers saw a male suspect and pursued him on foot through several yards before effecting an arrest. Investigation into this incident led to numerous charges against the male suspect. Officers observed that numerous other vehicles in the area had had their windows smashed.
Through investigation into other incidents, officers also found evidence connecting the same suspect to other incidents including a Break and Enter to a business in the 2200 block of 25th Avenue and a Fraud, sometime between May 10-13, 2019. The same suspect has also been charged in connection to an April 24, 2019, Theft of Auto incident in the 1900 block of Jansen Crescent.
Eighteen year-old Jesse NIGHT, of Regina, is charged with:
- 2 X Break and Enter [348(1)(b) CC]
- 11 X Mischief under $5,000 [430(4) CC];
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools [351(1) CC];
- Possession of Property (vehicle) Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC];
- Possession of Property (keys) Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [355(b) CC];
- Possession of Property (miscellaneous) Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [355(b) CC];
- Possession of Credit Card [342(1)(c) CC];
- Possession of Property (Debit Card) Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [355(b) CC];
- Fraud Under $5,000 [380(1)(b) CC];
- Shoplifting under $5,000 [334(b) CC]; and
- Four breach charges.
NIGHT made his court appearance on the most recent charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019.
