A 25 year-old Regina male is facing 24 charges as the result of an incident last week involving the violent assault and forcible confinement of a female victim. That incident and efforts to arrest the suspect led to an Emergency Services operation in the 2000 block of Ottawa Street yesterday: Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Crisis Negotiators, SWAT, Canine and Patrol assisted investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division in safely apprehending the 25 year-old suspect.
The Regina Police Service Street Gang Unit began receiving unconfirmed information about a possible assault and forcible confinement of an unknown female on March 26, 2019. Through continued investigation, the Gang Unit, with the assistance of the Major Crime Unit and Street Crime Units, were able to confirm the female victim. As the investigation continued, victim identification and safety became a priority, along with the apprehension of the suspect identified through the investigation. Other victims were also identified. Numerous investigative techniques led to the execution of an arrest warrant in the 2000 block of Ottawa Street on April 2, 2019. Given the nature of the (March 26th) offences and the likelihood of firearms being present, a request for Emergency Services’ assistance was authorized.
Twenty-five year old Shiloh Blue KEEWATIN, of Regina, is charged with:
- 2 X Aggravated Assault, [268(1) CC];
- 3 X Forcible Confinement, [279(2) CC];
- 3 X Uttering Threats, [264.1(1) CC];
- 6 X Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition, [117.01(1) CC];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, [92(1) CC];
- 3 X Pointing a Firearm, [87(1) CC];
- Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, [86(2) CC];
- Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Firearm, [95(1) CC];
- 3 X Use of a Firearm in Commission of an Indictable Offence, [85(1)(a) CC]; and
- Possession of Methamphetamine, [4(1) CDSA].
KEEWATIN made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
