On Saturday, March
16, 2019, at approximately 2:45 AM, police observed a vehicle driving at a high
rate of speed with headlamps off. Shortly after, police located the vehicle,
abandoned, in an alley behind the 1500 block of Angus Street, and confirmed the
vehicle to be one reported stolen since February.
A canine track from the vehicle led to the three males, who were arrested and
charged. A search revealed substances believed to be methamphetamine and
cocaine, and a large amount of Canadian currency.
Thirty-one year-old Jason Lee BIRD, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 [CC 355(A)];
- Fail to comply with undertaking [CC 145(3)];
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime [CC 355(B)];
- Possession of a scheduled substance for purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) [CDSA 4(1)]; and
- Possession of a scheduled substance for purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [CDSA 4(1)].
Thirty-one year-old William Wayne STARR, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 [CC 355(A)]; and
- Fail to comply with probation order [CC 733.1(1)].
Twenty-eight year-old Tony James THOMPSON, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 [CC 355(A)].
The three made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, March 18, 2019, at 9:30 AM.
