The Regina Police Service Street Gang Unit executed a warrant at a residence on the 1900 block of Halifax Street on March 13, 2019. This was part of an ongoing illegal weapons investigation. As result of this enforcement action, ammunition and a quantity of a substance believed to be methamphetamine were located, and a 41 year-old male and a 19 year-old male were arrested and charged.
Forty-one year-old Geoffery Faron MORRIS, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a scheduled substance (methamphetamine) [CDSA 4(1)].
Nineteen year-old Steven SMOKEYDAY, of Yellowquill, is charged with:
- Fail to comply with probation order [733.1 (1) CC]; and
- Possession of a scheduled substance (methamphetamine) [CDSA 4(1)].
This investigation
continued on March 14, 2019 at which time a search warrant was executed in the
1100 block of Victoria Avenue. Again, a significant quantity of ammunition was
located. As result a 36 year-old male was arrested and charged.
Thirty-six year-old David Christopher KEARSEY, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order [117.01 (1) CC].
This investigation culminated with enforcement action on March 15, 2019 at which time a search warrant was executed in the 1400 block of Princess Street. This resulted in the seizure of a firearm and ammunition. Charged as a result of this action are a 29 year-old male and a 20 year-old female.
Twenty-nine year-old Keith Campbell SCHELL, of Regina, and twenty year-old Christin OAKES, of Cupar, are charged with the following offences jointly:
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88];
- Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime [CC 96(1)];
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition [95(1)(A) CC]; and
- Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition [CC 86(1)].
SCHELL is additionally being charged with:
- 2 X Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order [117.01 (1) CC]; and
- Fail to comply with probation order [733.1 (1) CC].
OAKES and SCHELL make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, March 18, 2019. MORRIS, SMOKEYDAY, and KEARSEY are scheduled to make their first appearance in Provincial Court on these charges on Monday, April 29, 2019, at 9:30 AM.
