On Saturday, March 9, 2019, at approximately 2:00 am, police were dispatched to the area of 8th Ave and Montague St for a report of an injured person. Officers on scene located a 23 year-old male who was the victim of a shooting incident. The victim was transported to hospital by EMS with serious injuries.
Investigation into
this incident led to a residence on the 1300 block of Montague Street, where
two males, ages 18 and 17, were arrested and later charged. A search of the
residence revealed a firearm and ammunition.
Eighteen year-old Donovan KAISOWATUM, of Regina, is charged with:
- Attempt murder using a firearm [CC 239(1)(A.1)];
- Fail to comply with prohibition order [CC 117.01(1)]; and
- 2 X Fail to comply with disposition [YCJA 137].
A seventeen year-old Regina male, who will not be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Attempt murder using a firearm [CC 239(1)(A.1)];
- Fail to comply with prohibition order [CC 117.01(1)]; and
- Fail to comply with disposition [YCJA 137].
KAISOWATUM made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court, today, March 11, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. The youth also made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court, today, March 11, 2019, at 9:30 a.m.
