On Friday, February 15, 2019, at approximately 11:30 pm, police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Dewdney Avenue for the report of a weapons offence. Information received was that three teenage males at a hospital had threatened an adult female with a baton. Officers on scene for an unrelated matter pursued the males. The three males were arrested. Two batons and an axe were seized.
Three males, ages 14, 15, and 16, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have all been jointly charged with assault with a weapon [CC 267(A)].
The 15 year-old Regina male is also charged with:
- 2 X Possession of a weapon [CC 88];
- 2 X Fail to comply [YCJA 137]; and
- Fail to comply with undertaking [CC 145(3)].
The 14 year-old Regina male is also charged with possession of a weapon [CC 88].
Both the 16 year-old and 15 year-old made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court this morning, February 19, 2019, at 9:30 am. The 14 year-old makes his first appearance in Provincial Youth Court on March 28, 2019.
