Police teams, which include the Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT, Crisis Negotiator teams, as well as Canine Unit, were deployed on Sunday, January 27, 2019, to the area of the 900 block of Retallack Street. As a result of this, and related, investigations, five young persons and one adult face charges.
On January 27, 2019, at approximately 4:00 a.m., police were dispatched to a house in the 900 block of Retallack Street for a report of a firearm, or firearms, at a large gathering. Police secured a perimeter around the house and requested additional resources. Eventually, several more teams assembled at that location, including Canine, Crisis Negotiators and Special Weapons and Tactics. Eventually the occupants of the house exited without incident. Once the occupants of the residence were identified and interviewed, it was found several people were facing outstanding warrants. There were also a number of people found to be in breach of court-ordered conditions. Five male youths: two 14 year-olds and three 16 year olds; and one adult female were arrested and charged accordingly. The firearm was not recovered.
The five male youths, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were each charged with Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. The five accused will make their first court appearance on these charges in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019.
Twenty year-old Richelle Sunshine TANISKISHAYINEW, of Regina is charged with Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. TANISKISHAYINEW will make her first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019.
