On December 4, 2018, at approximately 4:45 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Winnipeg Street for the report of a potential firearms offence. Information received was that a female was robbed of her belongings and threatened with a firearm.
Police arrived and began attempts to have all occupants safely exit the residence. Nine people exited and were placed into custody. One of these individuals was found to have previously received an injury; he was treated in hospital and returned to police headquarters. Another occupant, a 33 year-old male, was found to be in possession of stolen items (believed to be unrelated to the aforementioned robbery) as well as a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
A search warrant of the residence was executed, and a search revealed two firearms, knives and machetes, ammunition, as well as some of the belongings of the robbery victim.
Investigation determined that one of the occupants, a 16 year-old female, had provided a false name to police and had hidden one of the firearms, and was subsequently charged with obstruction.
Twenty-one year-old Donovan Dean STRAIGHTNOSE, of Kamsack, is charged with:
- Uttering threats [CC 264.1(1)(A)];
- Fail to comply with officer’s undertaking [CC 145(5.1)];
- Fail to comply with undertaking [CC 145(3)];
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon [CC 91(2)]; and
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88].
Thirty-three year-old Alvin Walter MUSQUA, of Regina, is charged with:
- 3 X Possession of property obtained by crime [CC 355(B)]; and
- Possession of a scheduled substance (methamphetamine) [CDSA 4(1)].
A 16 year-old female, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with: Obstruct Peace Officer [CC 129(A)].
STRAIGHTNOSE made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, December 5, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. MUSQUA is scheduled to make his first appearance in Provincial Court on these charges on January 23, 2019. The youth is also scheduled to make her first appearance in Provincial Youth Court on her charge on January 23, 2019.
