A 25 year-old Regina male is facing charges following an assault that occurred at a house in the 2900 block of Dewdney Avenue yesterday: Monday, October 29, 2018. The alleged assault is considered a domestic-related incident, involving members of the same household.
Police were dispatched at 11:55 a.m. to a residence in the 2900 block of Dewdney Avenue for what was initially reported as a domestic-related assault in progress. Police arrived and located an adult female who had injuries consistent with a physical assault. It’s alleged the suspect also struck a young child in this incident. When police arrived, they learned the child was in the care of another family member; the victim was taken to hospital by EMS and the suspect remained in the house, initially refusing to come out. Two blocks of Dewdney Avenue and one block of Retallack Street were closed to traffic for a few hours, as police negotiated with the suspect. At approximately 1:25 p.m., the suspect emerged from the house and was taken safely into custody. The male suspect faces charges as the result of investigation into this incident.
The 25 year-old male is charged with Assault [266 CC] and Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. As this is an incident of domestic conflict, the accused’s name will not be released by the Regina Police Service so as to protect the identity of the victims/occupants of the same household. The accused individual appeared in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
