Two individuals: a 30 year-old male, and a 28 year-old female, are facing charges after an incident on Saturday night in east Regina.
On Saturday, September 29, 2018, at approximately 6:18 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Prince of Wales Drive and Arcola Avenue, for a report of two males fighting in the street. A passer-by had been alerted that someone was trying to steal a vehicle. When police arrived they saw a silver Jeep with four-way flashers turned on, making a west-bound turn onto Arcola. When police activated emergency equipment, the Jeep evaded and sped away. A male, who was identified as one of the persons involved in the fight, was walking on Arcola Avenue. He indicated that he’d just had his vehicle stolen. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim had given a male and female a ride into the city and, near the intersection of Arcola and Prince of Wales, asked the two to exit his vehicle. The victim alleged the two got out, but took the victim’s backpack with them. When the victim got out of the vehicle to confront the pair, he got into a physical altercation with the male. During that time, it’s alleged the female got into the driver’s seat; she and the suspect male drove away. A short time later, the Communications Centre received a call of a collision, involving a silver Jeep, at 9th Avenue North and Winnipeg Street. A male and a female were found running from the vehicle and taken into custody. Further investigation led to charges against both individuals.
