A male, age 23, has been charged following an arrest in Regina on Friday, August 31, 2018.
On Thursday, August 30, 2018, at approximately 1:47 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Rae Street to investigate a report of a shooting. A male suffering an apparent gunshot wound was discovered in a residence. This firearm assault was the subject of a previous media release. The male victim has since been released from hospital, following treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
On Friday, August 31, 2018, at approximately 11:51 p.m., police observed the suspect from the shooting incident operating a stolen vehicle. The suspect male was arrested by plain-clothes members of the Street Crimes Section, without incident, in the 2100 block of McIntyre Street.
Twenty-three year-old Michael John YEWMAN of Regina is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm [244.2 CC], aggravated assault [268(1) CC], robbery with a firearm [344(1.a.1) CC], and several additional firearms charges and breaches in relation to the August 30 shooting. He is additionally charged with motor vehicle theft [333.1(1) CC], possession of stolen property [355(b) CC], possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose [88 CC], possession of a concealed weapon [90 CC], possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking [5(2) CDSA], and possession of marijuana [4(1) CDSA] in relation to the August 31 arrest. In total, YEWMAN is facing twenty-two charges in relation to this incident.
