The Regina Police Service is currently conducting three separate investigations in relation to three bear spraying incidents that occurred in the North Central region of Regina.
On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at approximately 3:40 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Garnet Street for a call for service involving a female victim who had bear mace sprayed in her facial region. The victim was walking home when she was sprayed with the bear mace. The victim was treated briefly by EMS and did not suffer any serious injuries.
At about 7:10 p.m., a male motorist became involved in a dispute with another male pedestrian in the 1400 block of Robinson Street. The pedestrian pulled out a canister of bear spray and sprayed it directly into the face of the victim. Police attended the scene but did not locate the suspect. The driver of the vehicle was able to park his car safely after being sprayed. Injuries to the victim were not serious.
A third bear spraying incident occurred just before midnight when two males were sprayed in the face while socializing in a park in the 1200 block of Athol Street. The suspects were in a group and fled after assaulting the victims with bear spray. Injuries to the victims were minor in nature.
It is not known at this time if these incidents are related.
These investigations are on-going at this point.
