A 47 year-old male from Vibank, Saskatchewan, will be charged with Mischief under $5,000 as the result of investigation into an incident in Regina’s Victoria Park, in which the statue of John A. Macdonald was vandalized with red paint.
Police were first made aware of the damage to the statue on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 but it wasn’t until later in the week that a suspect in the case emerged. This was largely due to a Leader-Post newspaper story about the incident. After an investigation to determine the validity of the information, a 47 year-old male was arrested.
Forty-seven year-old Patrick Charles Alexander JOHNSON, of Vibank, has been released on an Appearance Notice and will appear in court on September 27, 2018, at which time he will be charged with:
Mischief under $5,000 [430(4) CC].
