The Regina Police Service is conducting an investigation into a motor vehicle collision that occurred this afternoon on Winnipeg Street and 14th Avenue involving a motor vehicle and a child on a bicycle.
Police were dispatched to Winnipeg Street and 14th Avenue at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday July 31, 2018. Preliminary investigation indicates a grey SUV was facing east bound on 14th Avenue at a stop sign at Winnipeg Street. The SUV proceeded to make a north bound turn onto Winnipeg Street. A ten year-old boy on a bicycle was crossing Winnipeg Street west bound on 14th Avenue while riding a bike. The SUV hit the 10 year-old on the bike in the middle of the intersection. The driver of the SUV stopped at the scene.
EMS attended and transported the 10 year-old to hospital with what is considered minor injuries.
The driver of the SUV was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for Failing to Yield the Right of Way to a Pedestrian at an Intersection or Crosswalk.
