A male, age 30, has been charged following an investigation in Regina on Sunday, May 6, 2018.
On Saturday, May 5, 2018, at approximately 12:50 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 800 block of Argyle Street North in Uplands, to investigate a robbery. This robbery was the subject of a previous media release. The male suspect, described as aboriginal, tall and very thin, with short black hair, pock-marked face, fled out the back of the business before police arrived.
Approximately fifteen hours later, on May 6, 2018 at 3:45 a.m., members of uniformed Beat Patrol observed a male inside a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. This male matched the physical description of the male from the Uplands robbery. Beat Patrol arrested the male for robbery, and upon searching the suspect, found a loaded, sawed-off rifle in his backpack. Also found on the suspect were a small amount of drugs and some ammunition. Subsequent investigation revealed that the arrested male was not believed to be responsible for the earlier Uplands robbery.
Thirty year-old Brandon Patrick DERMODY of Regina is charged with:
– Carry concealed weapon [90 CC];
– Weapons dangerous to the public [88 CC];
– Unsafe storage of a firearm [117.1(1) CC];
– Careless use of a firearm [86(1) CC];
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm [92(1) CC];
– Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm [95(1) CC];
– Possession of methamphetamine [4(1) CSDA]; and
– Possession of hydromorphone [4(1) CDSA].
DERMODY made his first court appearance on these charges on May 7, 2018 at 09:30 a.m.
