On Thursday April 19, 2018, at approximately 1:49 pm, police were dispatched to a business on the 400 block of Albert St N for the report of a firearms offense. Information received was that a male was seen in the parking lot pointing a firearm from a vehicle at another male.
Police locate the suspect vehicle moments later in the area of 6th Avenue and Angus Street. Police successfully conducted a high risk traffic stop and two occupants of the vehicle, a 27 year-old male and the driver, a 32 year-old female, were arrested. A search revealed a substance believed to be cocaine. However, a firearm was not recovered.
Investigation into this incident also led to a residence on the 1400 block of Athol Street, where a 39 year-old male exited the residence. A firearm was not recovered, however police revealed a machete on the 39 year-old male, who was arrested and charged.
Twenty-seven year-old Brandon William Kane THOMSON, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a scheduled substance (cocaine) [4(1) CDSA];
- Fail to comply [CC 145(3)]; and
- Point firearm [CC 87].
Thirty-two year-old Kara Lee BENSON, of Regina, is charged with:
- Assault with a weapon [CC 267(A)].
Thirty-nine year-old Jason Eugene WORM, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88];
THOMSON and WORM made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, April 20, 2018, at 9:30 am. Benson has a first appearance on these charges scheduled for May 28, 2019.
