The Regina Police Service has an update to a news release issued February 9, 2018, which indicated an investigation into a weapons (shooting) offence, alleged to have occurred at a residence in the 1000 block of Argyle Street on February 9th.
In the initial report, police were told that a 20 year-old male was injured by an unknown person or person when he answered his door. Upon further investigation, police have determined that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted by the resident, who was improperly handling a firearm. The male was also prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition. A female occupant of the house is alleged to have helped by hiding the gun. She was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The male received treatment in hospital for his injuries and subsequent investigation led to charges against both individuals.
Eighteen year-old Jayleen Peige McNAB, of Regina, is charged with:
– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [95(1)(a) CC];
– Obstructing a Peace Officer [129(a) CC]; and
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance (methamphetamine) [4(1) CDSA].
McNAB made her first court appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on February 12, 2018.
Twenty year-old Cze-Sand BANNAB of Regina, is charged with:
– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [95(1)(a) CC];
– Careless use of a Firearm [86(1) CC];
– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm without Registration [91(1)(b) CC];
– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized [92(2) CC]; and
– Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC].
BANNAB made a court appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
