A Regina male made a second appearance in Youth Court today, charged in connection with four shooting incidents in Regina’s south end, which occurred on November 12th and 15th , in 2015. The 13 charges include two charges of Attempted Murder. The male was a youth at the time of these incidents. Continued investigation since the events occurred resulted, earlier this month, in a total of 13 charges against this individual.
The incidents are as follows:
– November 12, 2015 – At approximately 12:50 a.m., shots were fired through the windows of a business in the 4600 block of Albert Street. The business was open at the time. No one was injured.
– November 12, 2015 – At approximately 1:22 a.m., the living room window of a residence was shot at. There were no injuries to the home occupants.
– November 15, 2015 – At approximately 11:39 p.m., an employee closing a business in the 4500 block of Albert Street was shot twice. The female victim, who was 33 at the time, was hospitalized for treatment of her wounds.
– November 15, 2015 – At approximately 11:56 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 4600 block of Albert Street, for a (then) 23 year-old male who’d been shot. The victim was also taken to hospital for treatment of his wounds.
– November 17, 2015 – Police were dispatched to the area of Richardson Crescent and Frontenac Drive for the discovery of what appeared to be a cache of firearms. These became a key part of the investigations into the shooting incidents.
The combined investigation has been complex and comprehensive. A Regina male, identified as a suspect in these cases, was arrested and charged on October 16, 2017. The accused cannot be identified since he was a youth at the time of the occurrences. He faces a total of 13 charges:
– 2 x Attempt Murder, s. 239 CC;
– 4 x Discharge Restricted Firearm or Prohibited Firearm in a Reckless Manner, s. 244.2(1)(a) CC;
– 4 x Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, s. 91(1) CC; and
– 3 x Mischief under $5,000, s. 430(4) CC.
The accused made his first court appearance on these charges in Youth Court on Monday, October 16, 2017. His second appearance was this morning, Thursday, November 2, 2017. Investigation into these matters is ongoing.
