The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, is now conducting a homicide investigation after the discovery, this morning, of the body of a deceased male. This is the eight homicide in Regina in 2017. Investigators indicate they do not believe this incident poses an elevated risk to other members of the public at this time.
Earlier today, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, police were dispatched at approximately 8:06 a.m., to the 1000 block of Atkinson Street for a report of male who was lying outside a residence and did not appear to be breathing. Police and EMS attended and located an adult male, who was confirmed deceased. Officers secured the immediate area and requested the additional resources of the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units, as well as the Coroner.
The deceased male, who is in his mid-twenties, has been identified; however, notification of his next of kin has not been completed at this time.
Police are continuing this investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner. Anyone who has information to assist in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
