Three youths: a 12 year-old male from Saskatoon and two females (ages 15 and 16), from Regina; have been charged in connection with a stolen auto incident which occurred on Sunday, October 8, 2017, in Regina.
At approximately 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017, police officers on patrol received a broadcast indicating a vehicle had just been stolen about ten minutes earlier. The license plate information was broadcast, along with the vehicle description: a silver-grey, four-door Mercedes. The original report indicates the vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside. Immediately after the broadcast, a patrol car, travelling eastbound on 7th Avenue, toward Albert Street, spotted the car, matching the description and plate information, at a nearby business. The officers took three young persons into custody without incident. All three were charged in connection to the theft and possession of the stolen auto. Further investigation also led to charges in connection with breaches of court-ordered conditions, and a firearms-related charge in connection with possession of ammunition.
The three teens cannot be names in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All three are jointly charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle [333.1(1) CC] and Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000. [355(a) CC]. The 12 year-old male is also charged with Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition [117.01(1) CC]; and a Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. The 15 year-old female is also facing two charges of Fail to Comply [137 YCJA]. The 16 year-old female is charged with a Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. All three accused made their first court appearances on these charges in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. this morning (Tuesday, October 10, 2017).
