Two males, one from Regina and the other from Moose Jaw, have been charged with Second-Degree Murder in connection with the death of a 39 year-old male, which occurred on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
The death investigation began when police were dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 12th to a location in the 2100 block of Cornwall Street. The information in the call indicated a seriously injured male at that location. Police and EMS attended and located a 39 year-old male, who was pronounced deceased by EMS. Officers requested the Coroner as well as other investigative units. The deceased male was identified and his next-of-kin were notified. As more information and evidence were gathered, investigators determined the death was a homicide case. The investigation led to the arrest, early Sunday morning, of two suspect males, who were subsequently charged. Investigators have contacted the family of the deceased to advise them of this development.
The deceased victim is 39 year-old Blaine Thomas KATZ, DOB: 1978-05-10, of Regina.
Forty-four year-old Gerald Earl McDORMAND, DOB: 1973-05-30, of Regina and 39 year-old Steven Paul SAINT PIERRE, DOB: 1978-07-30, of Moose Jaw, are jointly charged with Second-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. Both McDORMAND and SAINT PIERRE made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017.
