On July 28, 2017, as a result of continued drug investigation in the city of Regina, four males were charged with drug-related offences. The four suspects were arrested by members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU)* during a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Lindsay Street. During the traffic stop, the driver and front seat passenger fled from the vehicle on foot but were apprehended a short distance from the car by RPS patrol units. As they fled, the vehicle remained in gear and resulted in a low-speed collision with a police car. There were no injuries resulting. Related searches of a residence in the 2100 block of Lindsay Street and two vehicles resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of cocaine and some marihuana, as well as a large amount of Canadian currency.
The following individuals have been charged:
Twenty-seven year-old Maluak Joseph ATHEL, DOB: 1990-01-01, of Regina; 26 year-old Garang KUR, DOB: 1991-03-15, of Edmonton, Alberta; 25 year-old Diing GENG, DOB: 1992-01-17, of Calgary, Alberta; and 24 year-old Daniel ATEM, DOB: 1992-11-09, of Red Deer, Alberta are jointly charged with:
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [5(2) CDSA];
• Proceeds property obtained by crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC]; and
• Possession of a scheduled substance (marihuana) [4(1) CDSA].
Garang KUR is also facing a charge of Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. All four accused made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. this morning, Monday, July 31, 2017.

*The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) Saskatchewan consists of three teams, located in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert. CFSEU is comprised of personnel from partner police services from Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who receive funding for resources and operations from the Government of Saskatchewan through the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing. CFSEU’s primary mandate is to expose, investigate, prosecute, dismantle and disrupt organized crime enterprises.
