An eighteen year-old male is facing charges related to the motor vehicle fatality that occurred on July 18, 2017, that resulted in the death of a fifty year-old Ontario male.
On July 18, 2017, at approximately 8:06 am, police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Winnipeg Street to respond to a report of a motor vehicle fatality involving a truck and a pedestrian. A male had been hit by a truck that had fled the scene. EMS attended and pronounced the male deceased. An abandoned truck was located nearby, and seized by police, and determined to be the vehicle involved in the incident.
Further investigation into this incident led to an eighteen year-old male, who was located by canine members and arrested on July 19, 2017 at approximately 6:37 p.m. At the time of his arrest, property belonging to the victim was found on the eighteen year-old male.
Eighteen year-old Thomas Richard NAHBEXIE (DOB: 1999/02/16), is charged with:
- Failure to stop at scene of accident involving death [CC 252(1.3)];
- Theft of motor vehicle [CC 333.1(1)];
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000 [CC 355(b)]; and
- Theft under $5,000 [CC 334(b)].
NAHBEXIE makes his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court tomorrow, July 21, 2017, at 9:30 a.m.
