On Saturday, July 15, 2017, a Regina Police Service member discharged a CEW, commonly known as a Taser, in an arrest. This advisory is in keeping with the Regina Police Service’s commitment to notify the public each time a CEW is discharged against a person.
On July 15, 2017, at approximately 8:49 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue for a report of domestic dispute. When police arrived, an injured female was observed and it was determined through investigation an assault had allegedly occurred and a male suspect may be in possession of a knife.
Upon arresting the forty-two year old male suspect he would not cooperate with police. He became resistant and assaulted two officers. The CEW was deployed on the male to gain control of him. He was treated at scene by EMS and transported to cells to be held to appear in court on 17/07/17.
Bradley Keith Goodpipe D.O.B . 1974/11/13 is facing charges of Assault with weapon (267(A)CC), Breach of Probation Sec 733.1(1) CC and two counts of Assault Police Officer Sec 270(1)(A) CC.
The use of the CEW has been documented as per policy and will be reviewed by a Use of Force Committee – a committee within the Service. All uses of force are also reported to the Saskatchewan Police Commission – an oversight body independent of the Regina Police Service.
